Sportsbok odds on Phoenix decreased throughout the NHL season as the Coyotes continued to win. Phoenix was eventually eliminated in the playoffs but it was a fantastic year for the Coyotes. The Coyotes could have been moved to Winnipeg but the city seems to have worked out an agreement with the Ice Edge group that will keep the team in the Phoenix area. The NHL wanted to keep the Coyotes in Phoenix and was working with the city of Glendale to make it a reality.
The Ice Edge investors made it their goal to keep the team in the Phoenix area and that is the main reason their bid was likely to be approved. “Ice Edge continues to believe in the future of hockey in the valley,” stated the group, “We have held several discussions with the city of Glendale over the past few days, and those discussions continue through the weekend.”
Phoneix is going to get everything worked out with haste and the team will continue to be based out of Glendale. Phoenix has many players who are looking at free agency so the ownership issues will begin to be solved quickly and all indications are that things are going to work out. Phoenix now may qualify as as contender in the Western Conference and that wasn’t the case before the the season began. In fact, the Coyotes set franchise records this past season for wins and points. They nearly beat Detroit in the playoffs before losing Game 7.
Just how good was Phoenix this past season compared to the NHL odds at the sportsbook? They took home 50 games this past season and at home they were especially challenging to beat as they won 29 games. They Coyotes were also vastly underrated in sportsbook odds which made them a great bargain on almost a nightly basis. Almost as good a bet as betting on Phoenix to win was gambling on their games under the total. 46 of their games went under the total whereas only 26 went over. 10 games were pushes vs. the NHL odds total.
