The meaning of fumigacion
My daughter, aged 17, is studying Spanish. I saw a book that contained the word ‘fumigacion’, and I asked her what it meant. I was amazed when she said she didn’t know, because I assumed she was fluent in the language. She explained, however, that, she can hold a conversation easily, but there are odd words that she may not know.
We have visited Spain many times in the past, and the last time we did so she acted as our translator. She was absolutely superb, so I felt bad that I’d found a word she didn’t know. It turned that it meant pest control products, which includes fly sprays, rat poisons, mouse traps and wasp nest destroyers.
I later asked my daughter about a few more Spanish words, ones which I knew that she’d get right. Hopefully it made her feel a bit better and gave her an opportunity to show off.

Shakespeare In London was a real Education
There is no doubt about it; London is definitely the best place to go to the theatre. Nowhere else can rival London for the number of theatres, range of shows available and calibre of performers.
I decided to book Richard III by Shakespeare in London, and to take the children with us this time. The theatre is usually one of those things that my husband and I do on our own, preferring to take the kids to sports events instead, but we thought it would be a good education for them.
Well, I don’t think my husband and I will ever get away with going on our own again. The kids loved it, and what to know when we’re going back!
